The End of Hope for Maldivian Youth!

"The hardest part about being in the Maldives is seeing the youth wasting themselves away. No motivation, no drive, no confidence, no hope. You work 8-10 hours a day, disheartened by the salary and working conditions coupled with the lack of opportunities and affordable recreational facilities. After that you spend that little money you earn on some stupid tasteless coffee, at some stupid beach cafe'. There is NO DRIVE, no long-term thinking, and no means and ability to do that.

This painful reality of the Maldivian people and the structural poverty, co-exist with the rich and luxurious beach life for the white, the privileged, and the 1% of this country. No, all those brochure beaches, and crystal clear waters, those do not belong in the life of an average Maldivian. An average Maldivian has to work, bleed, and sweat, to enjoy a night in the heavenly beauty they call home." - @loveza ahmed
