Maldivian Economist

Over MVR 150 million was spent to celebrate 50 years of political independence. Most of us have no idea of how Maldives got independence and how we were forced in to become a colony of British . When you look at the history, what we see is that Maldivian politics is dominated by few rich families of Male' who owns majority of the wealth of this nation.
If you look at the major political parties in Maldives, their leadership is lead by those families and people accused of heavy corruption. Also many of them have switched from one party to another on numerous occasions. What is more surprising is that we the public applaud them & see them as our leaders/heroes. 

They have managed to color code us, divide us by faith, geography and loot the resources of this country. They have convinced us to vote for color and puppets of the rich funded by the rich. They have succeeded in fooling the public over& over again. After all these, are we suppose to blame them or us? Educate yourself. Educate others.

While Maldives celebrate "Independence Day"....
I remember the people...
-who were killed,
-an island's inhabitants all chased out.
-homes which were burnt
-an island's people who roamed for 5 years without being able to set foot on their island!

I remember my family members who were tortured and killed. Women and children who were raped!

The photo below was my grand father's home... which was burnt to the ground after looting all the wealth in there. 

Thinadhoo was a rich island. With hard working people. All her riches were stolen. And boats which were used for trade too were burnt.
Independence of my people were ripped away from them!
Independence from the British... but no real independence for the people... especially economic independence... after Nasir killed and stole the riches of the traders in Raajje then!
May Allah bless all souls who were killed as a result of dictator Nasir's actions!

If dictator Ibrahim Nasir didn't do what he did to Thinadhoo and her peoples...
I can imagine the progress the island people would have seen.
Even then Thinadhoo people were more developed & had schools and clinics... better than in Male'.

They were a self sufficient people!
And that is what Nasir and Male' people couldn't digest! That is why Thinadhoo was attacked!
Greed, jealously and oppression due to economic independence of my people... is the reason why Nasir destroyed and killed Thinadhoo's future!

މިއަދަކީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖެ އިނގިރޭސިންގެ ހިމާޔަތުން މިނިވަންވިތާ 50 އަހަރު ފުރޭ ދުވަހެވެ. ފުވައްމުލަކަށް ވެސް ނިސްބަތްވާ އިބުރާހިމް ނާސިރުގެ ބޮޑުވަޒީރުކަމުގައި ރާއްޖެއަށް ފުރިހަމަ މިނިވަންކަން ހޯދައިދިން ނަމަވެސް އެމަނިކުފާނާއި މެދު ދެން އައި ރައީސް މައުމޫނުގެ ވެރިކަމުގައި ކަންތައް ވެގެން ދިޔައީ އިންތިހާއަށް ހިތްދަތިކުރުވާ، ދުށްމިނެއްގެ ލޮލުން ވެސް ކަރުނަ ފާއްދާލާ ފަދަ ނިކަމެތި ގޮތަކަށެވެ. އަމިއްލަ ގައުމުގައި ނުހުރެވި ޖާނު ސަލާމަތްކުރުމަށް ސިންގަޕޫރަށް ހިޖުރަކުރެއްވީއެވެ. މާލު ސަރުކާރަށް ހިފީއެވެ. އަމަލުކުރީ ހަޑިހުތުރު ގޮތްގޮތަށް ކާޓޫނާއި ލަވަޔާއި މުޒާހަރާތަކުނެވެ.

މިއީ މިނިވަންކަން ހޯދައިދިން ފަރާތާއި މެދު ދިވެހި ދައުލަތުން އެއިރު އަމަލުކުރި ގޮތަށްވާ ހިނދު އެއީ އުފާކުރަން އަޅުގަޑު އެދޭ ކަމެއް ނޫނެވެ. ގޮތެއްވެސް ނުމެ ނޫންމެއެވެ. މިނިވަންކަން ހޯދައިދިން ފަރާތުގެ "ބޮލަށް ފައިން އަރާފައި"  އިތުރަށް ވިދާޅުވުމަށް

ދިވެހި ރާއްޖެ އިނގިރޭސީންގެ އަތުން މިނިވަންކަން ލިބުނުތާ 50 އަހަރު ފުރުން ކުލަގަދަކޮށް ފާހަނގަ ކުރުމަށް މުޅި މާލެ މިދަނީ ޒީނަތްތެރި ކުރަމުންނެވެ. ގައުމުގައި މިދުވަސްކޮޅު އެންމެ ގަދައަށް ދެކެވޭ އެއްވާހަކަ އަކީ މިނިވަން 50ގެ ވާހަކައެވެ.

މިނިވަން 50 ގެ އުފާ ދިވެހިން ހޯދަން އެންމެ 3 ދުވަހަށް ވެފައި ވަނިކޮށް މިއަދު މިވަނީ ދިވެހި ގައުމު ސިއްސުވާލާފައެވެ. ސިޔާސީ އިދިކޯލު ފަރާތްތައް ބަންދުކޮށް، އެފެރާތްތައް މިނިވަން ކުރުމަށް ސަރުކާރުން ޑީލް ހަދައި އެންމެ ފަހުން މިވަނީ ގައުމު ވިއްކާލާފައެވެ.

އެމްޑީޕީގެ ރައީސް މުހައްމަދު ނަޝީދުގެ މައްޗަށް އަވަސް ޝަރީއަތެއް ހިންގައި، އެމަނިކުފާން 13 އަހަރަށް ޖަލަށް ހުކުމް ކުރުމަށްފަހު ސަރުކާރުން ފެށީ، ބާކީ ދެންތިބި ސިޔާސީ އިސްފަރާތްތައް ތަފާތު ތުހުމަތުގައި ހައްޔަރު ކުރުމަށެވެ. ބައެއް ފަރާތްތައް ބިރު ދައްކައި ގައުމުން ފައްސާލީއެވެ.

އޭގެ ފަހުން ދެން ފެށީ ސަރުކާރުގެ ސިއްރު އެޖެންޑާ ތަންފީޒު ކުރުމުގެ މަސައްކަތެވެ. އިދިކޮޅު އެމްޑީޕީގެ ރައީސް މުހައްމަދު ނަޝީދު 2018 ވަނަ އަހަރުގެ އިންތިހާބަށް ކުރިމަތިލެވޭ ގޮތަށް އެމަނިކުފާން ދޫކޮށްލަން ޝަރުޠު ކުރީ ރާއްޖޭގެ ގާނޫނު އަސާސީއަށް އިސްލާހު ހުށަހެޅުމަށެވެ. އިތުރަށް ވިދާޅުވުމަށް
